The Chaos In Your Chest

There is a war in your chest
The bombs bust, and the guns fire
The barricade mutes the noise
So they only echo as deep thuds.

And as I hold my hands to your back
With my head on your chest
And my ears kissing your cotton shirt
I can hear it, the war in your chest

I can hear struggle, a constant chaos
And in that thumping I could hear laughter
A child's laugh, ringing though your ribs
Why would there be laughter in war?

I heard a squeal, a trembling stretch
And the burst and the fizz, of a bomb?
No- I was wrong- Fireworks!
They are fireworks- bursting brightly

And Now that I know, I can see them
Other signs in proof to prove my secret
I see one in my most secret place of safety
In your eyes, as a fizzling sparkler.

Hand In Yours

I hold my hand in yours
In hopes you'll never let it go,
You'll never let me fall,
For I'll always know, deep within my heart, you are the one.
I'll love you for forever, and more than that, for you deserve it.
If you lay, I'll lay with you, safe in your arms, stealing your warmth on a cold winter's night.
Just you and I remembering what we are, and thinking about what we will be.
You and I, me and you, were the greatest team of two, our love is strong, like a heavey stone wall, one that can't be broken, even if someone tried.
And here we are, hand in hand, where I hold my hand in yours
Hoping you'll never let me go

The Kiss

The ticking of the second hand
No longer can be heard
Time is almost standing still
Sharpening every word

Every breath inhaled
Brings across a sweetened scent
I sit there with my gaze averted
But we both know that's pretend

My pulse has picked up speed
Heart beating out my chest
My breath has increased quickly
At your beauty, so picturesque

Thankfully I am seated
For I have lost the strength to stand
I watch you walk towards me
And gently graze your nails across my hand

At your whisper of a touch
Every hair stands up on end
My mind now empty, my body numb
Your power over me I can't comprehend

You have caused me to lose control
Of every part of me that I could claim
I struggle to understand
How you're able to keep me detained

I can not move my body
You have frozen me in place
Future thoughts I can't predict
Past memories you managed to erase

Another touch across my flesh
And you send me into a dream
My head is spinning, my vision blurred
How my skin just wants to scream

Your carelessly stand against the wall
A short distance away from me
You keep your eyes locked on mine
And watch me intriguingly

Your hair is gracefully flowing
Across your shoulders and down your back
And your ruby lips curl upwards
Your smile emotions does not lack

Your eyes so deep and hypnotic
They send me into a trance
But when you finally disconnect your gaze
I rush to take my chance

Within moments I am out of my chair
And standing in front of you
So close my breath is on your throat
Now will be our debut

My right hand weaves into your hair
My left pressed against your hips
I look you deep into your eyes
I am less than inches away from your lips

Your ruby lips are slightly parted
As my lips graze against your own
Now it's you whose breaths increased
You let out a subtle moan

I glide my lips towards your neck
With my hands I tighten my grasp
I whisper sweetly into your ear
As I make this memory last

I feel your shiver under my touch
Turns out that talent is mine as well
I feel your heartbeat increase
Feeling are starting to overwhelm

Your grasp surrounds me quickly
I am trapped in your embrace
But I'm not planning on going anywhere
In my arms you are incased

I keep you close and kiss you deeply
And with that simple touch
Our mind and souls join as one
Something we both crave so much

Dark and light intertwined
Night and day but a blur
Within that single, deepened kiss
Our entire worlds have turned

Dark and light together
Woven like DNA
Another kiss from your ruby lips
From my arms don't ever stray

The Month Of Love Is Almost Here!

Valentine's day is almost here! And what's more romantic than a love poem? And its time to start writing those beautifully cliché love poems. Then, before you read it to your loved one, submit it! All this month we're going to showcase a whole bunch of love poems. <3

Everyday this month until Valentine's day we're going to showcase the best love poems! 14 days of lovey-dovey poetry! ;) I can't wait to see what you guys submit!

I hope I get this many valentines ;)

Let's get some inspiration going, shall we? ;) Here's a classic piece by Shakespeare. "Sonnet 18", famously known for it's first line:

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow'st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

For hounders of thousands of years, women have always loved being told they were beautiful. And nothing tops eternal beauty. It's so romantic! Let's look at a more recent piece.
This piece is by Carol Ann Duffy.

"Warming Her Pearls"
Next to my own skin, her pearls. My mistress
bids me wear them, warm them, until evening
when I'll brush her hair. At six, I place them
round her cool, white throat. All day I think of her,

resting in the Yellow Room, contemplating silk
or taffeta, which gown tonight? She fans herself
whilst I work willingly, my slow heat entering
each pearl. Slack on my neck, her rope.

She's beautiful. I dream about her
in my attic bed; picture her dancing
with tall men, puzzled by my faint, persistent scent
beneath her French perfume, her milky stones.

I dust her shoulders with a rabbit's foot,
watch the soft blush seep through her skin
like an indolent sigh. In her looking-glass
my red lips part as though I want to speak.

Full moon. Her carriage brings her home. I see
her every movement in my head.... Undressing,
taking off her jewels, her slim hand reaching
for the case, slipping naked into bed, the way
she always does.... And I lie here awake,
knowing the pearls are cooling even now
in the room where my mistress sleeps. All night
I feel their absence and I burn.

Her poetry gives a fresher,(and dare I say) sexier image to love poetry. Love poems don't have to sound old english and right out of Shakespeare feather pen, your love poems can be whatever you want them to be!
Hope to see some great poetry in the inbox! :) <3
