Into the Clouds

We ascend until we can't see the cars on the highways dispersing like ants.
And the rows of houses, schools, and hospitals are bunched in grey pixels
like a musty carpet in a downtown bowling ally that hadn't been replaced since the 60's.
And eventually, when you look down on the sky, it almost feels like you're back on the ground- looking up.

On a school trip, wrote this little free verse as soon as the inpiration arose, haha- I just couldn't help it!

The Window

As I look out the window, it rains
Then it snows
Then the sun comes out and shines
And then it goes
I know I have not gone out much,
but that is okay.
Because I learned a lot
By looking out the window today.

So I go outside for a change.
Since I don't like the view from here.
But since it's so awkward to interact,
I go back inside to avoid my peers.
Later that day I regret my decision,
And hope that one day I'll get over my fear.

And then I look out the window, it rains
Then it snows
Then the sun comes out and shines
And then it goes
I know I have not gone out much,
but that is okay.
Because I learned a lot
By looking out the window today.

But as the sun goes down,
And day turns to night
I really know all along
that it's never alright,
to just look out a window all day.

I set it to myself to make this day mine.
I won't just run away and hide.
Because I know I'm better than that,
And I can't just let my fear decide
That I don't want to enjoy my life today
Because of this stupid thing called anxiety
No, this day and life is mine
And this is my journey of opportunity

And then I look out the window, it rains
Then it snows
Then the sun comes out and shines
And then it goes
I know I have done a lot
and everything went my way.
Because I learned a lot
By being outside the window today.

And as the sun goes down,
And day turns to night
I really know all along
that it's finally time
to be something looked out a window all day.

Surge

Let's be mad
at the world.
charge forward,
tearing down,
destroying recklessly.

Let's not think
about the casualties.
if we do
we'll question,
wonder.

Let's savor each other,
just the once.
hands slipping,
crimson caressing
the pavement.

Myopic Thoughts

Milky way seen over Cape Schanck

Open minds throb in the open air-
With the vast knowledge of what has begun-
Making the walls breathe
As if these minds were closed.
And The closed minds feel open,
But the light years of space-
 Will always be cornered-
In what we believe to be infinity.

A Love Like the Movies

One short film
That we choose to take part.
There are breath taking lines
That come from the heart.

Two star-crossed lovers
In the scene of their kiss.
Crave the tender touch
That had been so dearly miss.

Three treasured words
At least once woven in script
It's powerful vow
That keeps the stage lit.

An ongoing flick
And our hearts are reminded.
And though history made
The tape is rewinded.

Three treasured words
At least once woven in script
It's powerful vow
That keeps the stage lit.

Two star-crossed lovers
In the scene of their kiss.
Crave the tender touch
That had been so dearly miss.

One short film
That we choose to take part.
There are breath taking lines
That come from the heart.

Action.

The Chaos In Your Chest

There is a war in your chest
The bombs bust, and the guns fire
The barricade mutes the noise
So they only echo as deep thuds.

And as I hold my hands to your back
With my head on your chest
And my ears kissing your cotton shirt
I can hear it, the war in your chest

I can hear struggle, a constant chaos
And in that thumping I could hear laughter
A child's laugh, ringing though your ribs
Why would there be laughter in war?

I heard a squeal, a trembling stretch
And the burst and the fizz, of a bomb?
No- I was wrong- Fireworks!
They are fireworks- bursting brightly

And Now that I know, I can see them
Other signs in proof to prove my secret
I see one in my most secret place of safety
In your eyes, as a fizzling sparkler.

I Can't Resist You

I can't resist you.
Your charm
Your flawless disguise
That covers the lies you hide.

The lies my yearning heart desire.
I want to know.
I want to know what are you hiding from me.

What is it?
What is it this aura of yours?
Why do I become uneasy?

...

Maybe I'll never know...
